Hands-on classes: Kinesiology courses are conducted in UCM’s state-of-the-art laboratories for human performance and exercise physiology. Their goal is to instill a lifelong passion for learning in all students who come through the Sport Nutrition degree program.
The Master’s Degree in Sports Training and Nutrition aims to train students in topics related to physical activity, training and nutrition. Participants will acquire knowledge about personal training, sports supplementation and nutritional coaching, in order to optimize the performance of athletes.

Sandra Mayol-Kreiser, a clinical associate professor at Arizona State University, said, “I tell my students all the time, you can be the best dietitian in the world, but if your patients are not understanding what you’re saying and they’re not at home, it’s futile.”
The sports nutrition program focuses on the application of nutrition principles as they relate to sport and human performance. Students will explore how nutrition impacts performance. Graduates will be prepared for careers including sports nutrition, personal training or work in the fitness industry, including product development and research. Students may choose to supplement their academic training with national certification in a specific area including personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach or health coach.
The roots of FSU Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences date back to the university’s establishment, and it is the oldest college of its kind in Florida. Recently expanded in 2023, the College is home to six academic departments united through a common goal to maximize human potential. In total, the College includes the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies, Department of Educational Psychology & Learning Systems, Department of Health, Nutrition, and Food Sciences, Department of Human Development & Family Science, Department of Sport Management, School of Teacher Education, numerous research centers, and three laboratory schools (Florida State University School, FSU Pembroke Pines Charter School, and The Collegiate School at FSU Panama City). In 2024, the college was named after alumna and teacher Anne Spencer Daves.

Armed sports nutrition
The type of activity that an athlete engages in also affects their fat requirements. For example, endurance athletes need a higher proportion of fat to fuel their exercise. However, fats are not as effective in high-intensity exercise as carbohydrates.

To figure out the amount of carbohydrate you need, multiply your weight in pounds by 2.2 to get your weight in kilograms then based on that you’ll need 6–10g of carbs per kg of bodyweight. If you have an intense or long workout, you’ll need more than 90 grams of carbohydrates per hour.
There was a lot of variety in the way people trained, similar to today. But maybe the biggest similarity is how dedicated the athletes were. They weren’t worried about anything other than giving it their all. Earning every set and every rep.
